Institutional set up

EAU has a secretariat that is led by the Chief Executive Officer at Our Lady Consolata Catholic Church Bweyogerere, in Kiira Municipal Wakiso. The running of the Secretariat is fostered in line with the Organizational Constitution, Human Resource manual, the Code of Conduct, Financial Policies, Standard Operating Procedures and other manuals and training curricula.

Leadership and Governance

EAU top governing body is the Annual General Meeting (AGM), this is followed by the Board of Directors (B.O.Ds) composed of 7 members including 2 beneficiary representatives who provides an oversight of their respective needs. The Board oversees EAU operations providing guidance and spearheading strategic decision-making. The Management team oversees EAU’s operations headed by the Chief Executive Officer, whose major role is to provide strategic leadership and management, so as to ensure the attainment of the organization’s strategic goals and accomplishment of its mission. Currently, we have 7 members of staff/volunteers and over 21 networks of PWDs/Elderly peers and volunteers in over 13 districts of Uganda.

Organizational capability

Equality Approach Uganda has volunteers most of whom are beneficiaries themselves with various capabilities to efficiently implement any program area. We have volunteers and locum/partners with diverse capacities in training, capacity building for staffs and volunteers, counsellors, social workers, M&E experts, data officer all experienced/trained to provide the required services. All EAU volunteers and peers are experienced, having lived with Disability of diverse natures for years.

During the last 15 years, EAU and partners have engaged on orientation; hand on training of volunteers/peers and other care givers. Through the trainings, key stakeholders, PWDs and household members in the respective communities and groups witnessed the synergy of group working and have since registered CBO’s in their respective sub-counties and districts of Kampala, Wakiso, Masaka, Lamwo, Dokolo, Gulu City, Omoro, Nwoya, Amuru, Lira, Agago, Kitgum and Alebtong to mention but a few. To date the presence of these groups is in over 13 districts.
