Food Security

Food support, similar to medical is another pillar to other beneficiary support. Their gap is directly related to the quality and impact of other services provided by the organization. In order to maintain food security and the agriculture sector, Equality Approach Uganda started its Food security and Agriculture (FSA) Program, which focuses on emergency response and sustainable activities.

Activities of FSA conducted

  • Distribution of food to displaced beneficiaries in Kampala
  • Provision of meat portions during Eid Al-Adha
  • Distribution of food kits to ….. households
  • Rehabilitation/ restoration and establishment of furnaces and food security facilities
  • Supply and distribute bread to the most vulnerable families

Sustainable FSA interventions

  • Distribution of seeds/ seedlings to the 65 beneficiaries of urban farming training
  • Training 72 beneficiaries and staffs in urban farming
  • Distribution of  fertilizers and providing agriculture advice

Future FSA area of focus

  • Within the experience of Equality Approach team in implementing farming activities, future projects will focus on:
  • Focus on seeking financial support to facilitate skilled and willing laborers to use the fertile lands and skilled laborers who are ready to work, but they need financial support.
  • Using lessons and experiences of successful agricultural projects, to target support of farmers and non-farmers as to re-activate agricultural in the community.
  • Working to expand sustainable projects that play a key role in securing income for beneficiaries, becoming self-sufficient.
  • Enhancement of FSA value additions to the products.
  • Face climatic challenges head on. Application of environmental friendly projects that improves climate change, soil and crop quality and irrigation support.
