LEGAL AID & COMMUNITY JUSTICE

In the world of rampant rights abuse, justice often is considered a privilege, accessible by those that have the resources to pursue it. The marginalized are ignored or simply forgotten, the PWD and Elderly is a community that faces rights deprivation right from the household level; sharing of properties, sexuality, child bearing and care, support decisions are never in their favor.

Legal care actions

  • Our legal care has been majorly in identification of victims, documentation of the situation and referring for technical support.
  • We also mobilized and had training in Will making and Gender Based Violence. All were well attended.
  • We ensure, our beneficiaries are informed of their rights, roles and responsibilities. We are encouraged; women especially have taken up to reporting cases of violence, and other injustices. Equality Approach Uganda has joined other care givers in legal support to ensure fairness to her beneficiaries.
  • We engage and partner with Legal care givers and partners like UGANET, Makerere School of Law, private Law firms, have been our pillar in ensuring justice to our beneficiaries especially during the COVID19 period.
  • To date 73 beneficiaries have received legal sensitization from Tunawaze Foundation and other legal care givers; majority 67% being women.
